Abstract :
Interpolation is an important operation needed frequently in the area of signal and image processing. In this paper an extension of the generalized interpolation scheme involving self-Fourier and self-fractional Fourier functions are proposed. In the proposed scheme, a given image (whose resolution is to be improved) is projected onto subspaces with the constraint that the signals in the subspaces are self-Fourier function (SFF) and self-fractional Fourier functions (SFFF). The projections of the image in these subspaces are interpolated and the interpolated signals are combined to obtain the high resolution images. The simulation results of the proposed scheme demonstrate the improvement in the quality of the interpolated image as compared to other schemes.
