Abstract :
The design for a new common aperture, multiband, wideband, multimode, phase array shipboard radar, capable of handling all ship self defense and close-in surveillance requirements, is presented. The radar simultaneously provides both 2D and 3D coverage and radar engagement functions using 3 radar bands that operate through a common aperture. In addition to a conventional set of waveforms, a unique wideband “littoral waveform” is included to improve performance in severe clutter environments and to provide high range resolution information. Key mission related requirements and radar elements are described further
