Abstract :
The effect of severe selective fading on the performance of orthogonal binary FSK signals when diversity reception is used is investigated. Detailed expressions are derived for the effect of multipath fading induced ISI that is limited to one adjacent pulse. Optimum noncoherent square law receivers are considered, and the analysis is carried out for four shapes of the fading delay power density spectrum, namely Gaussian, rectangular, triangular, and exponential. The results agree in the limit with previously published results based on the assumption of small degree of selectivity or near flat fading approximation
