Abstract :
Transition to TV digital distribution finished in most countries. In cable networks, analog transmission will continue to work for their users. Studies evaluating the mutual interference between terrestrial (DVB-T and analog TV) and cable standards are rare, probably because it is considered that the two transmission media (the air and cable) are sufficiently distinct to avoid influencing each other. This research is a result of a series of evaluations realized with an experimental transmitter in our area, before the professional implementation of DVB-T. Without being a comprehensive study, our research presents the mathematical background, proposes a scenario to evaluate directly and by simulation these perturbations of mutual influence in mobile DVB-T reception and cable transmissions and establish practical values to limit maximum allowed power of cable TV trunk amplifiers, in a scenario of a residential area.
