Abstract
The availability of software for symbolic computation, as Maple, allows new approaches in the filter analysis and design. This paper shows how it is possible to perform a complete analysis of a family of aperiodical filters by computing a set of normalized diagrams (showing typical time and frequency indexes) and also the set of related formulae. Continuation theory and symbolic computation have been essential for deriving these results, which are not commonly available in filter literature. These indexes are useful for the identification of a reduced model of typical industrial process
