Abstract
Arp´s method of spectral factorization (Arch. Elek. Ubertragung Electron. Commun., vol.39, no.4, p.251-8, 1985) is considered for generalization to the two-dimensional (2-D) case. Although convergence and stability cannot be theoretically guaranteed due to the inevitable finite-order approximants to the 2-D spectral factors of infinite order, the algorithm is expected to be convergent and stable if certain truncation parameters are large enough. Illustrative examples are given to support the conclusions
