Abstract :
A laser amplifier using two cryogenically cooled materials, Gd3Sc2Al3O12 (GSAG) and YAG, demonstrates tens of millijoule pulse energy at kilohertz repetition rates. The near-diffraction-limited output was compressed to picosecond pulse duration.
