Abstract :
This paper describes longitudinal control actuation of Heavy-Duty Vehicles (HDV) using the SAE J1939 Serial Communications and Control Vehicle Network. High speed open/closed loop control experimental tests have been carried out. Test data shows the characteristics of J1939 network-based actuation of the following: engine torque control, air brakes, jake brake and transmission retarder. These characteristics are important for vehicle modeling and control design.
