Abstract :
The need for simultaneous multiband operation of satellite communications systems has not been a requirement. In the coming years with the introduction of the wideband gapfiller satellites, simultaneous operation in X-band and in Ka-band is a requirement for many terminals. Currently the state of the art in antenna feeds is addressing this requirement. Austin Info Systems, Inc. is a provider of multiband feeds and has developed a feed system that operates simultaneously in X-band and Ka-band in transmit and receive. The feed system has also been designed to operate with multiple carriers in a low passive intermodulation product environment in both bands. The feed system is designed using AIS patented multiband feed technology and is capable of being designed to operate with existing reflector systems. This feed system is very useful for terminals that are hard to get to or where real estate does not allow the installation of multiple antennas.
