The research of tree crown volume´s fractal characteristic based on three-dimensional laser scanning imaging system

Abstract :
The three-dimensional laser scanning technique is a new mapping technique which is another technological revolution followed by GPS in mapping area. The most feature of this technique is high-accuracy and high-speed and close to the original shape. So the three-dimensional laser scanning technique is a hot topic in mapping area at home and abroad because it breakthrough the traditional single-surveying method. This text according to acquire the standard tree data in Xiaolong mountain of GanSu Province by three-dimensional laser scanning imaging system, and collecting the data of tree crown volume and tree crown area. Meanwhile this text calculated the fractal dimension of tree crown volume, which their correlation coefficient are all over 0.8. The results showed that fractal dimension of tree crown volume in this area are between 1 and 3, and the fill degree of leaves first gradually show increasing along with the increase of the diameter then gradually depressed, which accord with the species´ bionomics characteristic in that area.
