Abstract :
Motivated by the serial turbo coding concept, power-and bandwidth-efficient serially concatenated multi-h continuous phase modulation (CPM) is proposed, along with appropriate receiver structures for iterative demodulation/decoding. Chernoff upper bounds on the error probability are derived using the transfer functions under a uniform interleaver assumption. Convergence analysis based on the input and output extrinsic information is also used to evaluate the error performance in the water-fall region. Serially concatenated multi-h CPM is shown to outperform single-h CPM.
