Abstract
Summary from only given, as follows. This paper details a multi-level (device-process) simulation approach to the analysis and design of photoreceptors for xerographic imaging. During imaging, a photoreceptor with and initial precharge is exposed with light and discharge to form a latent image with the residual charge. This image is subsequently developed with toner and transferred to paper for fusing. Device models for imaging require the solution of pdes derived from considerations of both charge conservation and current continuity. A hybrid boundary integral eqaution method - method of characteristics (BIEM-MOC) algorithm is used to solve for the transient electrostatic fields, and to track the space charge migration. Electron-hole pair generation is controlled by a field-dependent quantum generation efficiency. Production runs at the device level by varying control parameters allow families of photo-induced discharge curves to be abstracted for use at the process level. The process model performs multivariate interpolation of the design curves to compute discharge voltage as a function of time. In practice, the use migrates through the nested levels of simulation to extract the most complete set of data to ensure the most reliable design decision.
