            Abstract : 
The change of the propagation characteristics in a fiber, affected by high-intensity electromagnetic pulse (HIEMP), leads to the increase of the dispersion between modes and causes the signal distortion. In terms of the integration transform method, the nonlinear effects and heat produced by HIEMP in a fiber is analyzed, and some valid protecting measures are presented in this paper.
