The advent of the new round of financial crisis affected the world economy, the domestic and foreign SMEs(small and medium enterprises) are all facing new opportunities and challenges, while innovation management is very important. Therefore, innovation management for SMEs needs comprehensive and systematic adjustment in strategy, technology, organization, systems, human resources, information services and other aspects. From the actual situation of innovation management for SMEs in China, we compared and analysed the innovation management for SMEs in China and the advanced innovation management abroad (such as the United States and Japan) systematically, as well as provided a theoretical basis for the development of SMEs in China. This research has an important practical significance for improving the total innovation management capabilities and enhancing the competitive advantage of SMEs.
