Through comprehending the structure of automatic water metering systems based on wireless communication technologies, as well as understanding of characteristics and service range for the common long-distance wireless communication methods, furthermore, combined with our experiences gained in practical projects, this paper gives a brief description for the choice of wireless communication methods in automatic water metering system.
