Abstract :
In this paper a methodology for numerical calculation of a 3D magnetic field and the analysis of synchronous type electrical machines is presented. A mathematical model and an original algorithm for the nonlinear and iterative calculation by using finite clement method in 3D domain is given. A three dimensional model of the analysed electrical machine enables consideration of the anisotropy of the applied magnetic materials and the different configuration along the three axes. The program package FEM-3D is used to perform automatic mesh generation of the finite elements in the 3D domain, calculation of the magnetic field distribution, as well as electromagnetic and electromechanical characteristics in synchronous type electrical machines
