Abstract :
An attempt is made to improve the on-axis spatial resolution and the localization properties for heterogeneities available from high-frequency ultrasonic echograms. For this purpose, inverse filtering techniques are considered and matched to the authors´ specific needs. The theoretical and experimental results obtained for water suspensions of small moving scatterers (in the ten to eighty micrometers range) are presented. The model given for the artificial heterogeneous medium will allow, after some refinements, the development of biological cell-counting techniques
