Abstract :
A multiple beams combiner based on three-dimensional (3D) isotropic near-zero index metamaterials (NZIM) is proposed. Built on the Snell´s law, the combination of multiple beams can be readily realized via NZIM and further validated by numerical finite-element simulation. Our computational results show that the NZIM beam combiner has characteristics of an extremely small divergence angle of 0.08° and a high transmissivity of 88.12%. A low loss NZIM with refractive index of 0.04 is obtained by CST STUDIO SUITE at the wavelength of 775 nm via `fishnet´ structure. Our method opens up a new application of NZIM which could obtain high-power beam and may have potential applications in optical fiber communication, and metamaterials-based imaging system etc.
