It is claimed that ERP system can bring many benefits to the organization, if it is implemented successfully. There are many ERP implementation projects fail to provide what they are claimed for. Therefore, it is very important to find the reasons may contribute to the failure of an ERP implementation project. By examining factors necessary for implementation of an ERP system, in this paper, a set of critical success factors for the project has been identified. An Interpretive Structural Modeling methodology is applied to determine underlying relations among the factors. The findings indicate that top management commitment, clear goals and objectives, and technological infrastructure are the most important and influential factors in ERP implementation projects.
