Abstract
The paper presents closed-form formulas for the exact average symbol error rate (ASER) of MQAM for multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) WCDMA systems in Nakagami-m fading channels with multiple access interference (MAI), using the moment generating function (MGF)-based analysis method and alternative representation of Q2(x). The analytical framework developed can handle an arbitrary number of transmit and receive antennas in both open-loop and closed-loop systems. Numerical results show that the system can achieve significant performance improvement by using the combined transmit and receive antenna diversity.
