Engineers and scientists working in mobile computing often have to justify or even defend their efforts when dealing with people from industry. This paper attempts to move from technically justifying work in mobile computing to commercially motivating it. Collaborative mobile applications have a role to play in the utility environment and this role is set to expand as competition develops
