Abstract
Summary form only given. The results of a study of the smears of 159 patients with invasive ductal adenocarcinomas are reported. Image cytometry of estrogen receptor immunolabeling and DNA distribution in the smears was carried out. Software was developed to analyze routine preparations and to estimate objectively the tumor heterogeneity. A calculated parameter highly correlated with biochemical assay was defined. The discrimination of four groups of tumors with significant differences in the degree of malignancy was made by combining immunolabeling and Feulgen analysis
