Abstract :
This article introduces two prevalent approaches of encapsulation used in data transport, GFP (generic framing procedure) and LAPS (link access procedure SDH), which have been greatly improved and applied in EOS (Ethernet Over SDH). The article also gives some basic knowledge on the parameters of data-transport performance. In addition, a number of experiments have been taken on the EOS hardware platform (a part of the MSTP device in author´s laboratory). The result from experiment proved the conclusion from the theoretical analysis when applying GFP and LAPS to data-transport applications. Finally, the article summarizes the transport performance between GFP and LAPS in conditions of different bandwidth resource and gives some advice on specific service application.
