Abstract :
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) systems give an opportunity to have a wide access control integrated with the monitoring of people and goods flow. System´s scalability is one of the most important features in such systems as they enable large scale deployments. The concept of a proposed reader´s architecture employs new RFID transceivers and microcontrollers, and security algorithms which give very high functionality at a low price. A special treatment of system´s security layer allows us to achieve one of the most important features of the scalable RFID system - a very high security level at each system level, which is uncommon in commercially available systems. In communication process data sent at each layer is encrypted by AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and 3DES (Triple Data Encryption Standard) algorithms. Moreover, thanks to innovative communication protocols the system is almost ideally scalable, so the usage of those devices gives an opportunity to built small, medium and large installations using the same RFID reader.
