Abstract
In this paper speed control of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) is presented. The HEV is operated in parallel configuration. The HEV is driven by an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drive. The PMSM is driven by a battery and a Photovoltaic (PV) module. In this paper the performance of the vehicle in conventional (driven by ICE only) and hybrid modes is compared. In this paper the performance of a PV module and its use to assist the battery to drive PMSM drive are also investigated.
