Abstract
Base on the additive index decomposition method, this paper analyzes the change of industrial SO2 emission intensity from 18 industrial sectors in China over the period of 1998-2006. The changes of industrial SO2 emission intensity are decomposed into industrial structural shift, SO2 production intensity and government control effect. Our results clearly show that as the economic development, the volume of SO2 emission has a trend of increase but the intensity has a trend of decrease, and the main contribution is the production intensity change. Industrial structural shift and government control effect relevantly occupy little share. Some policy advices were suggested.
