  • Abstract
Pixels form the basic building unit of a digital image. The shape of a pixel has a significant role in deciding the accuracy and precision of a digital image. In conventional square pixel representation, the decrease in resolution results a loss of visual image quality. The paper put forwards methods to improve the quality of the image by using variable shaped pixels. Low resolution images can be brought to better viewing accuracy by using irregular shaped pixels instead of traditional square pixels. Filtering techniques are applied along with the irregular shaped pixels approach so that noise is reduced and the overall visual quality of the image is enhanced.
