  • Abstract
Using a simple model for laser optical resonance, the performance of a binary direct detection equalized optical receiver is presented, assuming as a photodetector a PIN diode in a circuit-noise-dominant situation. The normalized dimensionless bandwidth integrals I 2 and I3 defined by S.D. Personick (1973) are evaluated in typical cases that allow the study of the influence of laser resonance on system sensitivity
