Abstract :
The operation of photovoltaic generation system (PVGS) is modeled and proposed in this paper. The target of proposed model is to encourage Distributed Generation (DG) or Very Small Power Producer (VSPP) to provide contribution to the connected system, by its operation, especially the voltage regulation. The proposed model allows PVGS to either consume or supply reactive power for maintaining system voltage within acceptable range. For the financial aspect, both reactive power consumption and supply may cause the increasing of power factor charge while the opportunity for generating active power (PVGS´s income) decreased. The proposed model is simulated on DIgSILENT POWER FACTORY and is tested for the impact of PVGS on the utility grid. The results show that PVGS can provide substantial contribution by supporting the grid voltage.
