Abstract
Most impeller washers in today´s world market are driven by a single-speed 4-pole PSC motor. To achieve delicate washing, lower spinning speed, etc., a lower speed is often desired. A 4/6-pole PSC motor with most of the windings shared was developed by the author. As compared with the 4-pole PSC, the increase in the material usage is moderate. The newly designed 4/6-pole PSC motors are in production. It has the potential to be widely accepted by the washer industry. The paper will present the design considerations, winding distribution, connection diagram, performance, etc.
