  • Abstract
This paper introduces a novel approach to bistatic SAR imaging for the case where the transmitting antenna follows a rectilinear trajectory while the receiver remains in a fixed position. This new imaging algorithm is based on a monostatic chirp z-transform (CZT) algorithm and a nonlinear chirp scaling (NLCS) function which equalizes the azimuth FM rate of all targets within a range cell. The approach have the advantages of the high accurate and efficiency. In order to process bistatic data, the bulk range processing transfer function, the scales term in CZT and the azimuth transfer function are modified. Moreover, the problem of how to rightly describe the transmitter range in practical implementation of the technique is discussed. Finally, results obtained on simulated data validate the proposed processing algorithm.
