  • Abstract
Traditional multi-hop wireless sensor and actuator networks (WSANs) based on an IEEE 802.15.4 standard can unintentionally provide poor communication and control performance when a traffic load is high. This paper studies the potential of employing multi-channel and multi-interface (MCMI) communication to improve the performance of WSANs. The Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) routing protocol is employed in this evaluation. The simulation demonstrates the promising results of using MCMI especially when the WSANs have to support a high number of traffic flows.
