            Abstract :
F3E (fundamental frequency front end) is the denomination for a converter with active rectifier and negligibly small DC-link-capacitance. These converters are normally used to operate 3-phase-motors, especially in applications where power regeneration is required. The simplicity and high efficiency of F3E-converters makes them suitable also for renewable energy applications (wind, water etc.), or as F3E-inverters for renewable DC-sources (solar cells, fuel cells etc.).
