Abstract :
Mathematical models for a fiber distributed data interface (FDDI) network with multimedia voice and data traffic are developed, and the performance of the network is obtained by approximate queuing analysis and simulations. The analysis gives the probability density functions for the FDDI token rotation time and shows the effects of propagation delay and of average packet delay for both voice and data traffic. Results from the FDDI simulation model are used to validate the analytical claims
