Abstract
Nano-sized carbonated hydroxyapatite was synthesized via wet chemical precipitation, with Poly(ethylene glycol) of different molecular weights and concentrations as additives to mediate the precipitation and growth of particles. Both needle-like and spherical nano-sized carbonated hydroxyapatite could be synthesized. PEG molecular weight had less effect on HA particle size compared to PEG concentration. The particle morphology could be adjusted by both the PEG content and the way that reactants were added.
