Abstract
Synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) cross-connect equipment requires a large-scale, broadband switching system. A multistage switching system architecture that has both time and space switching functions and connection algorithms is proposed. Some multistage switching system models are compared in order to evaluate blocking characteristics for uniformly and nonuniformly distributed connection requirements by computer simulation.
