Abstract :
The current environment for interactive television is one in which notions of its future are more numerous than users; and in which negligible numbers of customers are serviced at a non-viable cost for research and development purposes. In contrast, Videotron´s approach uses existing analogue technology and existing bandwidth to offer first generation interactivity to far more homes at an affordable price. It is argued that these two approaches to interactive television are not neutral: they are not different routes to the same destination. Instead, they will produce different results, and these differences are significant
