Remanufacturing can save a lot of resources, energy and reduce environmental pollution. Therefore, remanufacturing patent licensing involved with the elements of a compulsory license, from the perspective of environmental protection and sustainable development. We study the compulsory licensing of third-party remanufacturing, supply chain optimization and decision-making licensing policy. The results show that, with increase in manufacturing cost savings, the patent holder improves her benefits of remanufacturing by raising the re-manufacturing licensing fee. Remanufacturing patent license not only protects the rights of patent holder, but also results in the efficient allocation of excess profits from product remanufacturing in the supply chain. In the end, some numerical examples are offered to illustrate the sensitivity of optimal compulsory licensing fee, recycling price and the expected profit on remanufacturing cost savings.
