Abstract :
Future personal communication systems (PCSs) may be able to share spectrum in bands currently occupied by microwave point-to-point communications systems without causing harmful interference. Experimental measurements were undertaken to quantify the extent to which microwave link spectrum is available for use on a shared basis, and to identify constraints that need to be placed on PCSs if they are to share the fixed link microwave users. The measurement results show that a system with a channel bandwidth less than 5 MHz is able to share spectrum by using the microwave frequency that is not used locally
