Short pulse generation using nonlinear fiber optics for biomedical imaging applications

Abstract :
We discuss soliton-self frequency shift and soliton Cherenkov radiation generation in higherorder-mode (HOM) fibers below 1300 nm. Tunable, energetic femtosecond sources enabled by the HOM fibers are promising for biomedical imaging applications.
