Abstract
In this paper two schemes with queueing of both handoff calls (HC) and originating calls (OC), and priority, in the channel assignment, of the former over the latter, are proposed. The strategies, named buffer rigid partitioning (BRP) and buffer with handover control (BHC), are studied by means of an exact analytical model, that agrees with simulation results. Moreover, the parameters of interest are calculated and observed for several values of offered traffic and different percentages of HC, selected according to the radius of cells. Analytical results demonstrate that the new proposed schemes perform better than classic FIFO queueing schemes of only HC because they reduce the blocking probability of OC and increase the carried traffic while assuring the protection of the handoff stream.
