Abstract :
Some experimental results concerning fault diagnosis in power electronics using Park´s vector approach are presented. From an analysis of the experimental results it is concluded that characteristic patterns of abnormal behavior can be displayed in the oscilloscope. These patterns are able to pin-point if there is a short circuit or an open circuit on a diode and to identify the faulty element of the bridge. When only one diode is in short circuit, the voltage pattern is the contour of a circle sector corresponding to an arc of 120°. The current patterns can be used to identity a diode in short-circuit and its location, as well as a diode in open circuit and its location
