Abstract
An object-oriented application for subscriber cable network (SCN) management systems is described. Because SCNs are very extensive outside plant systems, that consist only of passive components, many SCN management tasks are performed manually rather than automatically, and a large amount of various kinds of data are necessary to perform these tasks. Therefore, flexible and user-friendly management systems are required for SCN. To satisfy these requirements, the authors propose a management concepts and system architecture, that fully adopt an object-oriented paradigm. A prototype management system based on the concepts is constructed, and its effectiveness is proved
