Abstract :
Advances in low-cost wireless link technology have resulted in the emergence of several wireless LAN systems for the enterprise network environment. In this paper we present and discuss various mobile networking problems that need to be solved before a truly wireless enterprise solution can become useful and pervasive. We outline several important factors that are essential in the wide adaptation and success of wireless LAN technology. We present an architectural framework based on a cellular architecture and a generic access point design that would pave a direction for the emergence of wireless and mobile networking capabilities in the current and future enterprise network environment.
