Abstract
This paper presents transient analysis and controller development of newly proposed Z-source current-type inverter (ZSCI). With the use of state space and small signal analysis, transient and steady-state models for ZSCI are developed. Non- minimum-phase characteristics of ZSCI DC-side impedance network due to the presence of RHP zero in its control-to-output transfer functions is revealed. Furthermore, steady-state equations of ZCSI are used to evaluate steady state gains of the inverter. A charge-based controller is developed to dampen oscillations and stabilize the inverter ac output. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the modeling and proposed control methods. A comprehensive set of simulated and experimental results are presented.
