Abstract :
A mobile communications network developed by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) to be completely independent of its telephone network is described. The mobile network provides for fairer competition since it connects to the wider telephone network, as do the networks of the new common carriers (NCCs). The mobile communications network is designed to permit its development into a larger network offering service to millions of subscribers. The characteristics of the NTT mobile network, problems in constructing a separate network, network structure and switching functions, transmission facilities, and the common channel signaling network are discussed
