Abstract :
Biomedicine represents an important and very fertile area both for the application of conventional digital signal processing (DSP) techniques and the development of new and robust DSP algorithms. Signal processing, in various forms, is at the core of a large number of medical equipment today, and it continues to play a crucial role in the analysis of medical data. Some of the key aspects of medical signal processing are presented. A number of novel, real world medical applications of DSP are described. Examples are drawn from a number of areas of medicine and health care, and include neurophysiology and obstetrics
