Abstract
ami set out to perform successful technology transfer in software measurement. The case study aims to demonstrate how technology transfer, in particular the global promotion of that transfer, has been achieved over the lifespan of the ami project-currently five years. The first part provides a historical overview of the project. The second section gives a brief introduction to the technology embedded in ami, looks at the processes used in the ami promotional campaign and attempts to measure the effectiveness of the campaign. The third part identifies several well-known technology transfer models and uses these paradigms to explore the diffusion pattern followed by ami. The final section looks at lessons learned and challenges for the future
