Abstract :
Summary form only given. Development of the electron avalanche in argon has been studied at E/p=10/sup -2/-500 V(cm Torr) by exact Boltzmann equation analysis in which use of the conventional spherical harmonics two-term expansion is avoided. In this method a Fourier expansion of the distribution function of electrons is used. Elastic momentum transfer, total electronic excitation and ionization collisions are considered.
