Abstract
Several standardization bodies have defined the logical telecommunications management network (TMN) reference model. The issues involved in transforming standard TMN reference models into real-world architectures are discussed. Some practical TMN issues, namely, the Q3 common management information service element (CMISE) specification and implementation constraints in practical TMN, including the limitations imposed on the TMN/OS applications with respect to open, vendor-independent solutions, are also discussed
